Decorated with Hawaiian leis, hula dancers welcomed the 12 very best cliff diving athletes to the sport’s birthplace on the group of islands in the midst of the Pacific.
Four months after its kick-off in France and five breathtaking competitions across Europe and Central America later, the grand finale of the 2010 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is now just two days away.
On September 12 the Kawainui Falls in Hilo on Hawaii’s ‘Big Island’ will be the spot where the World Series winner is crowned, with British athlete Gary Hunt all set to usurp reigning champion Orlando Duque.

Typically English weather conditions with water from all sides and chilly temperatures turned out to suit Gary Hunt perfectly at the penultimate stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2010 in Sisikon, Switzerland. Taking the lead after round one, the 26-year-old prevailed against his competitors and took his fourth season victory in front of 3,500 weatherproof spectators on Lake Lucerne this Saturday afternoon. The Brit is just one point away from winning the overall title at the final in Hilo, Hawaii, on September 12.

For the 2nd stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2010 the world’s best 12 high divers travel to the most remote and special venue — the mystical holes on the northern Yucatán Peninsula.
La Quebrada in Acapulco has been famous for cliff diving since 1934 and was location for Hollywood movies with Elvis Presley, but modern competitive cliff diving at the highest sportive level will be presented from the 27m platform on Cenote Ik Kil. Surrounding the remote and privately-owned well are exotic plants and trees — home to hundreds of wild birds.
